Antique reptile skin handbag

This is an antique luxury reptile skin handbag by the premium and oldest luggage and bags brand in the world, John Pound & Co Ltd London. It has a handle and silver tone metal hardware. Unbelievable it still has the original key so you can lock the front of the bag. Inside are a large pocket and a small pocket, plus an integral purse. The purse is lined in leather and engraved on it is says 'John Pound & Co Ltd London'. The handbag opens in concertina style. Has some signs of use and a few marks inside but is in very good condition for its age and has many more years of use in it.

John Pound is the oldest luggage brand in the world. Starting in the City of London in 1823 making trunks and luggage for the gentry from its base in Leadenhall Street, the brand pre dates all other luggage houses. Sir John Pound was the son of the founder, taking over the business in the 1860s. By 1871 the company was one of the biggest of its kind in the UK, and operated from 3 factories and had stores all across central London.
