1950s VINTAGE CIGARETTE CASE WITH SPANIEL PUPPIES

1950s puppies cigarette case
This very sweet 1950s vintage cigarette case (can also be used as a business card holder) is by the British maker ‘Hussey and Dawson’, who made pieces under the brand name ‘Gwenda’. The hinged lid is decorated with an image of two gorgeous Working Cocker Spaniel puppies - one brown and one black.
The puppies image is protected by a clear celluloid cover top layer. The base of the case is ridged to fit the cigarettes, and a hinged internal bar keeps them in position. There is a bevelled interior vanity mirror and ‘Gwenda, British made’ is engraved above the catch.
This Gwenda cigarette case is in good used vintage condition. The hinge and clasp works. The internal bar works well. The compact mirror gives a clear reflection, with some light fogging. It has been re-glued. The gold tone metal has minimal scuffs and tarnish. The celluloid layer has some light wear.
