This is the 'Clarice Cliff ETNA' from her 1931 original design. ETNA is one of the rarest Clarice Cliff designs. Part of the Applique range, it was briefly produced in late 1931. The scene, pulsating with rich russet red and warm golden orange shows the Sicilian volcanic peak in the distance. In the foreground a blue sea, edged by a rocky black coastline is topped by the lushest of green trees.
