Afternoon Tea Week
Afternoon Tea Week celebrates the great heritage of afternoon tea in the UK with a week of activities, themed menus and offers in hotels, restaurants and tearooms across the country from 10th-16th August 2015.
Here are our TOP FIVE places to have afternoon tea in the UK
1) The Hythe Light Railway Tea Room, Hythe Station, Kent
The railway have recently opened a tea room at Hythe Station and Alison Chapman (antique dealer, TV presenter on Dickinson's Real Deal and Secret Dealers, and friend of Lovely's Vintage emporium) is the genius behind the vintage-inspired tea room. The choice of cakes, scones, sandwiches and more is delicious, extensive and reasonably priced. Go check it out and have afternoon tea whilst watching trains go by. Perfection.
2) The Ritz, London
This is THE place for afternoon tea in style - with of course a high price and you need to dress smartly BUT we love it. The service, the food, the ambience, the decor is all just so classic and so British. Take visitors for a special treat and you won't regret it. It is £50 per person and men must wear jackets.
3) Burgh Island, Bigbury-on-Sea, South Devon TQ7 4BG
This art deco hotel is simply stunning and a special treat for all vintage lovers. Afternoon tea is now for hotel guests only but if you do stay here then make you sure you sample the fabulous food on offer. Prices vary.
4) The Beach Hut, Forelands Beach, Bembridge, Isle of Wight
This wonderful place is a gem right on Forelands Beach on the Isle of Wight so the views are exquisite. It is sometimes open and sometimes not and all food is freshly cooked in their tiny kitchen. Afternoon tea is a delight of crab and salmon sandwiches, fruit, cake, scones, tea and more. A must go. Open April to August 10-5pm
5) The Vermont Hotel, Castle Garth, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 1QR. Afternoon tea is 1-5pm Monday-Sunday £33 per person
This four star hotel combines modern luxury with the 1930s grandeur of the building. The afternoon tea includes a selection of finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and preserves, accompanied by pastry, chocolate and fresh fruit. Tea is Rington's.
